What was your worst Valentine’s Day experience ever?

My Valentine’s Day was not ruined. It was my client’s.

My Valentine's Day was not ruined. It was my client's.
(From SmartGuy).

Part-time private investigator, mostly for women from certain Calgary ethnic communities, was my job for a short time. Because of their cultural biases towards men, many Indian and Muslim families can be quite insular in how they live. Because I was Chinese, there was a healthy distrust for “white” investigators.

In this case, it was a slightly different type of case, as my client was Caucasian herself, but she had married a Pakistani guy. Apparently he was pretty nice to her and he was even a great stepdad to her teen son. He was an electrician, and took on her son as an apprentice, and the three became what looked like the perfect ideal and successful mixed couple in the suburbs.

One thing I learned about married couples was that I implicitly trust the instincts and intuitions of women who suspect something is wrong. When it comes to the state and health of their relationships, I find that women are very intuitive. The saying “Where there’s smoke there’s fire” applies 29 out of 30 times. In this instance, her “spidey instinct” was tingling.

She sensed that something was wrong with her husband. This is where the Pakistani culture comes in. When she confronted him, the man became defensive and almost physically abusive. He was just inches away from making her silent.

She called me and explained the situation to her late January evening.

A certain amount of discretion was required by her. Someone like me would likely be able mix around and not draw attention. For example, a Chinese man moving through an ethnic area of Calgary wouldn’t stand out as much as someone who is white. My success cases were popular among the Southeast Asian, Indian and Indian housewife communities and made me a sought-after person to hire.

She called me and explained the situation to her late January evening.
(from Interforce)

After following them around for a few more days,

I couldn’t find any fault. He worked hard and was very dedicated to his work.

The boy was there almost every day with her son. A quick check of their computer did not reveal anything unusual except that the father had a strange hobby, which was buying Disney toys online.

She and I inquired if her son had ever seen her stepdad have an affair or meet unusual people while working alongside him.

He said they were both busy working and that his stepdad might be too stressed from work.

There was nothing unusual.

I didn’t find anything and reported it to the police. I just attributed his behavior to the macho vibe I saw in these men. Although I warned her that he could threaten her if he did, there was nothing else to do. That was all I could think.

A few weeks later

, about a few days before Valentine’s, she called me again and told me that she had CONCLUSIVE proof that the guy was cheating.

She had been doing the laundry and found lots of dirty blond hair all over her husband’s underpants and around his shirts. Seeing as the guy, being Pakistani, would of course have black hair, then where the hell did this hair come from.

So she wanted me this time to follow them again and to not stop until I found the truth. It was especially important that I had absolute proof as the guy did ALMOST beat her when she accused him.

trackimo
(from trackimo)

So I returned to the fray. This time I also added a GPS tracking device to ensure I never missed a place. It was three more days of boredom. I didn’t find anything wrong ….. up until the last night or two days before Valentine’s Day.

Late at night, the truck was found parked in an unoccupied lot. The couple had just completed a job and were sitting in their truck working on paperwork.

It was tempting to just go home and complete the job, but it could be that this is how the man works.

Everything was going well until I noticed something. The target and her step-son were a bit too friendly.

It is hard to explain but they seemed to be a bit more friendly than normal father-son interactions as they looked at one another.

When her son suddenly started to do the dash, I continued to watch and record them.

A few seconds later, her stepdad/her husband leaned back in the chair and his eyes seemed like they were rolling back.

(from Youporn)

Everything suddenly made sense

…. I was incestual and icky. I recorded the …. rest. I recorded the rest of the “event” and noticed that her son had DIRTY BLONDE HAAIR. Yes, it was all matched up.

I cannot even begin to express how upset she was when I presented all of the evidence. She wanted to see everything that I had found.

I obliged. On Valentine’s Day, I spoke to a divorce lawyer and was asked if I would be available in court.

In her office, she was quite angry and was crying. Needless to mention, Valentine was a terrible Valentine.

Although she did divorce him

her son apparently continued to work with the man. I don’t know what her relationship is with her son. It’s been many years so I don’t know what has happened to her.

As I understand it, the stepdad wasn’t outed because that’s a huge taboo in this culture.
